Take heart. There are many legitimate positions and Work at home jobs available to you that any number of them could be a perfect match. While you need to be cautious of scams, sites that offer jobs that pay well, and give you financial security, are more common than you think.
Work from home employment comes in many forms: data entry, medical transcription, telemarketing, writing, editing, proofreading; there are literally hundreds of fields available for genuinely qualified persons. What you need to figure out first is what job are you best suited for? You must understand legitimate employers don’t want just anybody. They want people who can do the jobs well with as little training as possible, fast and efficiently.
Naturally, if you’re looking for work at home jobs that require data entry, the company or individual will be looking for an applicant who can type well and has access to a computer on a regular basis. No company of worth is going to hire a high school dropout without any experience typing for entering their data, no matter how desperate they are. If you’re looking for easy money, you won’t find it in a legitimate company.
Sites looking for clerical or administrative jobs can be found at Accentance.com, which specializes in transcription. AldersonReporting.com needs court typists. Another fine place to look for data entry work is AxionData.com. Bear in mind that if you have absolutely no experience typing, these jobs are not for you. They expect quick, efficient typists who can do the job with minimal training.
On the topic of training; companies look to do as little training as possible. They want you to hit the ground running. While it may be possible to get the training you’ll need, applicants who require no training WILL get the job before you. One way to prepare is to find a document and practice typing it out. Time yourself then try to beat that time. After a while, it becomes second nature, and the probability of finding data entry or typing work will be much easier. Efficiency and proficiency in your field will keep you working.
Another profitable way to make money is by writing, editing, and proofreading. This is an ideal work from home job for English majors just getting out of school. Writer’s Weekly and Craigslist.com often advertise work at home jobs that pay well for per diem work.
The most profitable way to make money working from home is as a medical transcriber. Whenever you go to a doctor’s office, the doctor often doesn’t write anything down. Instead, he or she will leave the room and find a tape recorder to record their findings and diagnosis. Your job is to transcribe the information. The recordings are generally sent in an MP3 format via email. However, these jobs require a minimum of one year experience in a medical office and formal training in the field.
The possibilities are endless. With the right approach and readiness to work, you’ll find many possibilities that will suit you.

It’s hard to write a resume. Most of us are not “born salespeople.” Just mentioning the word “sales” usually sends a shiver of fear up our spines. Add to this the fact that we are taught from childhood that it’s not polite to brag about ourselves it’s no wonder that when you’re asked to “sell yourself” on a resume you freeze up like a deer in the headlights.
So instead of panicking let’s take a resume apart piece by piece and explain how to write an effective resume. Hopefully this will eliminate some of the fear involved in “selling yourself” on paper.
RESUME BASICS (what every resume MUST have)
Your name, address and phone number (obviously). But also your email address.
Email addresses are where most people tend to go wrong. I have a friend with an email address called “1hottiger” (one hot tiger). While this might be cute among friends, to a prospective employer it shows poor taste, and a lack of maturity (since she’s in her late 40’s). If you don’t have a professional sounding email, create a new one just for your job search. You can get free email addresses on Google, Yahoo or Hotmail.
Example of a BAD email address:
ImAPartyGirl@email dot com
JennysMom@email dot com
2Hot2Handle@email dot com
Example of a GOOD email address:
MaryMartin@email dot com
M.Martin@email dot com
Mary.A.Martin@email dot com
STYLE
hen you write a resume avoid using fancy fonts or colored ink. This just makes you look immature. Plus, statistics show that if someone has to struggle to read something they won’t. Which means you’re resume is guaranteed to hit the trash faster than most if you use a script font.
Try to make your resume look like a nice letterhead. One thing I do when I write a resume is condense lines by putting my address all on one line and my phone number all the way to the right. Then I separate it all with a nice line to look like professional stationery.

(hint: If you’ve ever wondered how people put in those dots and long dashes, it’s a simple code. Just hold the ALT key and type a specific number on the number pad (number pad, NOT numbers above the letters)
ALT + 0149 for a dot (•)
ALT + 0150 makes a dash (-)
ALT + 0151 makes a long dash (—)
When To Use An Objective Over A Summary
The Objective Statement
An objective statement is for people who are either just starting out or changing careers. Your resume should state your desired job and field (engineering for instance) and demonstrate that you have the skills or education (if not the job background) for the position.
When you write your resume make sure that you use “action words” in your objective statement. Just like they sound they convey that you are a person willing to get to work and do your best. It should state your skills, your desires and what you want to do FOR the employer.
The WRONG Way To State An Objective:
Looking for a position with a dynamic company that will recognize and use my talents. I am seeking a company that promotes from within and will recognize and reward hard work and talent.
This statement is all about YOU. It gives the prospective employer no information about yourself that makes you stand out from the crowd. When you write your resume try to think from their position. They want someone that’s gonna get in there and work hard to make THEM money. How will you do that?
The RIGHT Way to State An Objective:
To apply my knowledge acquired through my Masters degree in Graphic Design and internship at ABC Advertising Company to an entry level position in the art and marketing department of a major magazine.
The Summary Statement
A Summary statement is for people that have been working for a while. It “sums up” your skills and positions using strong “action words” and states your qualifications up-front. It’s a way for a prospective employer to “glance” at your resume and determine if it’s worth reading further. It should outline briefly your skills and background and anything you feel you did that was “above and beyond” the nature of the job you held.
BAD Summary
Department manager for 15 member department in large marketing firm. Managed schedules and oversaw daily department duties and workflow.
The reason this is BAD is that it’s generic. Lots of people have jobs like that. What set you apart? Let’s try again:
GOOD Summary
Accomplished department manager with 10 years experience. Created highly synergistic department of 15 creative marketing employees that generated over $5 million dollars in annual sales through applying teamwork and incentives/rewards.
This is just a sample but you should have 3 to 5 strong sentences like this. When you write a resume show the results your efforts made whenever possible, whether it was saving the company money and/or time, or bringing in sales.
Please keep in mind that this article is for the person just entering the job market or in entry-level or lower-level management. One of the most isolated metros, Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is closer to the Indonesian islands than to Adelaide. But it’s Australia’s fourth largest city, and a vibrant economic node of an extended hinterland of major mining, petroleum and agricultural export industries. Perth jobs hold out many options. Previously, because of its geographical isolation, Perth jobs had been few. But all that changed with time.
Post-war, suburbs became part of Perth. Jobs were created as transportation improved. Spacious, relatively low-cost works were built with little congestion of traffic, parking space, etc. Australia’s east-west rail connections were upgraded, and a terminal freight complex built. Perth jobs were created in heavy industry – steel, aluminum, oil & gas, nickel – as it became the main service area for resource industries, such as gold, diamonds, mineral sands and coal.
With its large population and its economic leverage, Perth has also created development opportunities for many other businesses focused on local or extensive and diversified markets. Over six decades, Perth’s economy has been steadily mutating from manufacturing towards services. Although most services relate to extraction of resources, followed by agriculture, Perth jobs mainly provide services to Perth’s people – in health, education, trade, public and private services, especially since post-World War II population growth.
Adecco could be your passport to Perth jobs. As the world’s leading human resource solutions provider, it has over 6700 branches in 70 countries and territories globally. Sourcing human resources for organizations ranging from local businesses to multinationals, Adecco has just the people and infrastructure needed, and better information to find you just the right Perth jobs.
There are all kinds of Perth jobs today – engineer jobs, banking jobs, call centre jobs, IT jobs, Part time jobs, sales jobs, trade jobs and many more. Adecco can help you everywhere.

Employment in India is at an all-time high despite the dullness of the global market as a whole and the employment opportunities are expect to only grow from here with companies in the south creating a number of jobs.
The IT and ITES boom has not gone out of style, and are still growing steadily. They in fact, are the primary hirers right now. Other hot hirers are those with telecommunication jobs, healthcare jobs, etc. Those in the retail industry are relatively safe as well thanks to the many middle class folks who give they power as a result of their purchases.
Another quickly growing field is that of medical tourism. Many come from abroad to get their medical treatment done here as cost for medicines and treatment in other countries is easily several times the cost here.
I have even heard from some friends that booking the round trip ticket, plus booking a hotel and paying for all hospital treatment and bills still works out to be cheaper than driving down to your local doctor in places like the States, Europe, etc. Another reason this happens is possibly due to the fact that Indian doctors are held in high regard. It is perhaps because this is a quickly growing trend that the tourism industry is promoting is along with their other endeavors.
Employment services tell us that the entertaining jobs, publishing jobs, media jobs, etc have a very fast growth in salaries and rumor has it that the Indian textile industry will be creating nearly 5 million jobs by 2010!
The goal to attain to in all of this is to register you with a good employment site. Why, you may ask? Because even as the market is currently going down, what goes down must sooner or later come up! And you want to be in on the action when it happens. It’s not only India that is doing well. Employment overseas is also on the rise.
If you are one of those that are looking to get into a good job and are not exactly sure of what you want to do, you may want to explore various possibilities such as legal employment, part time employment, etc.
But most importantly, do NOT forget to read up on the employment laws of the country in which you live. Many layoffs are happening now and that too to people who are largely unaware of what their rights are as employed laborers. Every country has a law of the land, and you would do well to read it. Did you know they cannot fire you on the spot, unless there is a breach of policy, misconduct or unless your contract specifically states otherwise?
And, did you know that under the Payment of Gratuity Act which was created in 1972, all workers are entitled to 350,000 gratuities after 5 years of continuous service? Ipto.co.uk further added to this: The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 requires employers to pay a gratuity to workers earning less than a certain limit upon termination of service. Well! If more people would have known about even just these laws, it may have made their work easier.

If you are looking for a new job you may find yourself attending a number of interviews that have been scheduled. You may be quite nervous if you were out of work for quite a while and also if you were in a long term job. If you are worried, you can now relax. There are many steps that you can take to prepare yourself to be successful.
Getting a hair cut or even a new outfit for your interview may be a good idea if you are financially well off and can afford to do so. This may also increase you confidence according to many people. This increase in confidence is probably what you will need to just get past your interview. You can also borrow an outfit form a close friend or any family member. This will also help you saving money financially. Turning to your friends for a haircut may also be another option.
Making a research on common questions that are asked in an interview may be another solution to this problem. There are also a huge number of books that are available today to help such people. Most of these books apparently include tips on Job Interviews and also questions that may be asked. You can improve on the time you use to answer questions by making yourself familiar with the common questions.
You can also have practice sessions in front of your very own mirror or even ask a friend or a family member to help you out. You have to treat these situations like the real ones. Answer them very professionally as though you area in a real interview. This will help you when you go in for the real interview with real employers and people who really ask questions.
Always have an extra copy of your resume printed. This makes you well prepared. Take along a notebook and a pen. Jotting down necessary things may be useful. This also makes them understand that you are going to take your job seriously and not for the fun of it.
You will also have to take some time off to research on the company you are going to get into. You may be spending at the maximum one hour at a company to get to know about it and it may not be too much to get the job you really want. An online website may help in reducing the time in running around. Your employer may get impressed with you if you do know about the company. The basic information like the head quarters of the company or the main goals may be quite impressive enough. This will also grab the employers’ attention and you may have more chances of getting the job.
The steps that are mentioned above may be very useful to you in getting a job. Preparation will always do you good and no harm at all. Other important things may include being early for the interview and thanking people for spending their time with you.

It is often said that going to party dressed wrong or inappropriately will not get you the date. So it is with seeking gainful employment through Job Interviews, interviewing and the whole interview, employment and career seeking game or procedure. How you present yourself may well determine whether or not you will or will get the job proposal or whether or not you will or will not be offered the position at the firm or organization.
Differences in “Corporate Culture” and what might be called “value systems” can well determine whether or not a certain personal style or profile will be acceptable. What goes at a major corporation in terms of skills and job traits may not be the skills that are preferred say as a night manager at a halfway house for former convicts or other persons of similar traits.
Good interview strategy would entail that you must first find out something about the culture of the organization of the culture in which you hopefully will be working in and with, and what traits, characteristics and behaviors that are desired, preferred. Corporate and business cultures generally hire those that have the attitudes and mindsets that they like and feel most comfortable with.
In essence you will take sample and determine the “cultural temperature” of the business or organization long before your arrival at the interview meeting site or room. If you are fortunate enough to have people or contacts “on the inside” this is easier. If not you can even be at arms length through contacts one step away. Interestingly with the networking available through modern communication networks and the internet, social networking services such as “Linkedin” are now providing this function of networking with insiders of companies in an easier and more sophisticated 21’st century means and manner. With such a social networking service such as Linkedin you can more easily and quickly stay informed about your chosen industry, its people and its trends. As well you can more easily find the contact people and the strategic information that you need for your purposes. Why not take full advantage of such services to accomplish your goals.
It can be said and summarized that without some advance insight concerning any organization or business that you are applying for employment with and that organizations preferences for certain characteristics and behaviors. Your chances or succeeding at obtaining successful employment are no better than hitting a bull’s-eye at a hundred paces while blindfolded. Your situation can be like a ship sailing in the fog without a map and navigation balance. You will in essence be flying blind.
How else will you be able to “correctly” answer questions that come your way in an interview setting? By being well prepared with your research information you will in essence be “marketing “yourself successfully. It is not lying in any manner. It’s simply a matter of being able to present the same information in a manner that fulfills the expectations of the questioner in a style and fashion that they want and are looking for.
In the end it can be said that the whole interview process is about matching the right candidate with the right job. But more importantly it’s about you getting that job. Do your homework first, on the corporate culture of any jobs that you are applying for. Do your homework. Be prepared. Its well worth the effort, time and expense when it comes down to that job employment interview.

Before I begin, let me start by saying that I happen to be a certified professional resume writer (CPRW) and job search coach. I’ve been writing resumes since 2002, both for myself as well as for larger resume writing firms. Before that, I was a hiring manager for a large truck rental firm, running a 150-person call center. So I have had the opportunity to be on both sides of the job search process, representing the employer and representing the job seeker.
Professional resume writing in itself is a relatively new industry. If you look hard enough, you can find some writers out there who have 25 years (or slightly more) experience under their belt. But by and large, the bulk of writers out there have 10 years or less, with new writing services popping up daily. The reason is that the growth of the Internet as a business tool as well as the willingness of more and more professionals to invest in Resume Services has blossomed over the last decade, causing more people to consider resume writing as a full-time career.
As a result, the amount of press regarding the industry as a whole has started to increase. And, unfortunately, a lot of it has grown more and more negative. My goal here is to provide an insider’s view and get to the real deal behind those professional resume writing services. This first article will focus on the positives behind resume-writing services. I will be following up this article with two more segments (the Bad and the Ugly).
The Good
Let’s start out with some of the positives about resume writing that often seem to get overlooked.
1. Without a doubt, the quality of resumes has certainly increased thanks to the influx of people purchasing professional services. And hiring managers are now seeing better quality documents come across their desks. Instead of simply writing professional obituaries, candidates can now produce targeted resumes that seek to marry the needs of the employer with the skills of the candidate.
2. Writing your own resume is a difficult task. It’s somewhat like doing your own taxes. You certainly can try and figure it out. You can buy the software and read through the myriad directions. You can devote the time and muddle your way through. But at the end of the day, you are still no tax expert. And you submit your taxes on a wing and a prayer.
When constructing a resume, you are marketing a product, and that product is YOU! It’s tough to look beyond yourself, understand the wants of your target market, and produce a well-written, quality document that appeals to your target market. Too many job seekers look for resumes that appeal to them and care very little about the audience they are trying to reach. A resume writer can help you take an objective look at yourself, sift through strengths and weakness, and understand what an employer in your industry is looking for.
3. The industry is filled with many sincere, high-quality writers who bring corporate, communications, and recruiting experience to the table. Most candidates get more than just a resume; they also get loads of job search advice. Are there bad apples? Of course, and my next article (Professional Resume Writing Services: The Bad) will focus on why that is. But overall, what drives most people to the industry is the desire to help others. Certainly resume writers want to make money (don’t we all?), and they want to have thriving businesses, but they also want to see clients succeed.
4. Although the cost of purchasing a resume writing service has increased, it is still a relatively small investment. Of course, shelling out a few hundred bucks when you are unemployed seems like a lot. But this is your career we are talking about, after all. And first impressions do still matter.
5. The industry does have a way for job seekers to sift through the plethora of services out there. Most job seekers are unaware that there are organizations out there who offer certification testing for the resume writing field. One of them, the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARW/CC) offers the CPRW exam, which requires individuals to undergo a testing process that includes a review of their work by their peers.

A police career is a challenging and sometimes dangerous choice. It is not just writing out tickets or making traffic stops. Police departments are part of the city and state governments. The main responsibility for police is to keep order.
Depending on the country, the names for police are different. When attending school for a police career, there are many courses that must be taken. Proper training is essential in order to survive. A police officer must maintain the law and order by enforcing the laws of society. Federal, State, and local official create and pass the laws that all must live by.
A police career also involves training sessions on the weapons range. A police trainee must pass the test on the shooting range, and a yearly test after being sworn in as an officer.
A police career may involve the officer walking the streets of his or her district, keeping the peace and arresting lawbreakers. A police officer responds to calls for help and aids those in need of medical attention.
They investigate crime, interrogate potential criminals, and are required to keep detailed notes that will assist in the prosecution of criminals that have been arrested. Keeping detailed reports are very time consuming and some feel is the worst part of their duties.
Choosing a police career involves hours of classroom time, role-playing different scenarios. A police officer must be able to respond to any type of crisis call whether on duty of off. A required course in a police career is psychology.
A police career will also train personnel in disaster situations. They will be taught what to do in case of natural disasters or terrorist attacks. They are taught protocol for every situation.
Police academies throughout the country have federal guidelines in which they have to teach students who choose a police career. This is done not only to have a uniform police force, but also when emergencies arise in different states, police be transported from other states to assist with local enforcement agencies.
The more mundane duties of a police career involve issuing traffic tickets and citations, or transporting an intoxicated person to the police station.
Not everyone will be accepted to a police career. There are a number of factors that are used to determine if the person is both mentally and physically capable of becoming a police officer. There are extensive psychological tests that are given, as well a physically endurance tests. Officials feel that if their officers are carrying weapons, they have to be completely in control.
It is also preferred that the candidate that chooses a police career have some kind of higher education. The course that is preferred is criminal justice.
Often, retired military will seek a police career. They have the discipline and training that is necessary for law enforcement. They are able to pass the rigorous physical fitness courses that police academies require. As police agencies are operated by a chain of command that is similar to the military, there is very little adjustment time. For those who have the proper qualifications, promotions come more quickly. Along with the increase in pay for these promotions, comes a lot of paperwork.
Retired military are always accepted, with the exception of having been discharged for psychological reasons. A police career is one of the few career choices that can carry weapons legally. Although the standard issue is a nine-millimeter handgun, officers may carry shotguns in the trunks of their cruisers for situations that require more than a handgun.
All of those who choose a police career start out in a very low position. They usually are assigned to a specific community and get to know the citizens and businesses. Only after a specific period of time will they be considered for promotion.
When choosing a police career, it must be taken into consideration that there can be dangerous situations. A police officer is often faced with situations that are unpredictable. A simple traffic stop can have a disastrous outcome. They never know just what will happen at any given time.
In past decades, the police have had to deal with unpredictable situations. If they were at the scene of an accident, they would assist and comfort the injured. Today, they are hesitant to even hold the hand of a victim for fear of contracting diseases.
When apprehending a criminal, they need to exercise extreme caution, not only so they do not violate the rights of the criminal, but also because of the dangers of communicable diseases.
The dangers that are associated with a police career can cause stress on the job. In the United States alone, over eighteen thousand officers have died in the line of duty. Some departments require that the street officers wear protective vests to protect them from being injured.
Some protocol of police departments requires that the officer seek help from the department psychologist. This can be helpful in determining if there is a problem with officer.
In today’s police career, an officer is allowed to search, seize and arrest a criminal. They are not allowed to search or seize without probable cause. If this occurs, the defense will argue that their rights have been violated. If this can be proven, then the criminal is set free. Special care is taken not to violate the rights of the accused.
With a police career, a police officer is allowed to interrogate a criminal, but cannot abuse or use excessive force in any way. Reading the arrest person their Miranda rights is also a part of the police career. Specific laws that even the police have to follow.
There are some officers that have gone their entire careers without having to draw their guns. Others draw them on a daily basis. It depends on the region. In small rural communities other then an occasional drunk and disorderly charge, there is very little crime. In large cities, it is rampant. More police officers are needed in a big large cities and towns.
