I had recently applied for a job from an online posting. After a day, I received a call asking to come in for a job interview. We set up a date and time, but after doing some research about the company… I find it a bit sketchy and don’t want to attend the interview now let alone get the job.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.
Did they leave a contact number? Call that number and state " I will be unable to attend our scheduled interview on … at ?pm. Thank you for the offer." They may actually inquire why – don’t lie- just say it’s not suited to you and you are no longer interested in the position.
If no phone number, email if available or write a simple note and mail it – no one thinks to use snail mail anymore but it’s a reliable and appropriate form of communication. Make sure you date the note, just in case they don’t get it right away.
Always be honest – starting any kind of professional relationship on a lie is just not good business sense. You were very smart to do research on the company, be wary of any organization you can’t find online.
Good luck (find your local workforce agency and learn to use their site and free assistance.)

send an email or call them and tell them you’re no longer interested in the job or say you received another job offer from another company. if you don’t want to do that, just don’t go… but that’s not a nice thing to do. best to send an email.

Just apologise for any inconvenience but say you are now suited and will not be needing the interview.

With a phone call. That will solve it.

Call them or send an email thanking them for their consideration but advise them that you are no longer interested in the position. This is good business etiquette and this way the person scheduled to interview you can plan to do something else with the time they set aside for you.

Call them back and say Thanks for your interest but after doing some research on your company I don’t feel this is a job for me. If you don’t feel right about this company you should stay away from it. Don’t let them pressure you. Just plain and simple thanks but no thanks you don’t have to explain anything to them. You are wise for researching the company kudos to you.

call them and say you got the flu

I would just call them and tell them I found something else, or just don’t show up the only way you get in trouble for that is if you are collecting unemployment, if it don’t feel good then don’t do it!

I’d suggest one of the following:
1. Attend the interveiw and if you get the job, tell them that you’ve already been offered another job.
2. Ring them and tell them you can’t make it, or tell them you’ve already been offered another job.

Just phone or email saying that you have now got a job and will be unable to attend the interview. Thats better than either wasting yours and their time doing the interview or not turning up at all.

go to the interview,,its good practice and you might be surprised about what you see and hear vs what you think,,if its still sketchy than if offered a job decline and excuse your self
