Because you need experience. don’t give up. Fly as much as you can and get as many hours as you can. Think long term. Also – commercial and instrument ratings are a plus. Being a good commercial pilot takes time and patience.

In Australia especially, pilot’s like me are not really in demand..I am in MI. at present, so unsure if the same applies here. Good luck

It depends on what kind of job you eventually want, what you are willing to fly at first, and how fast you want to do all of it. With more information from you, I can maybe help you a little. I have mostly flown corporate, with some flight instruction and freight, and a short fling with the airlines before getting FURLOUGHED!!!

The types of jobs one qualifies for in the USA with a fresh commercial certificate are:

traffic watch
flight instructor (with the additonal CFI certificate)
"Is it hard to find jobs for pilots?"
That all depends on where you are. In some areas of the country, opportunities are slim. The competition for time & experience building jobs is fierce. This is why most pilots go the flight instruction route, at the very least they can create their own business. Plus, the flight school that train CFZIs often take them on staff once they have their CFI.
Additionally, a new commercial pilot with only 250 hours may not qualify for some of the above jobs as the operators insurance carrier rmay require more fight experience for them to be on staff.
"How much do you get paid when you first start?"
Very little. Skydive pilots may make as little as $5 per flight or CFIs $1,000/mo. Often, the more experience you have instructing, the better you get paid as a CFI.
"Are the jobs good or are they bad?"
Both. They are what you make of it. Even a "bad" job can be fun. My years of flying skydivers were very, very low paid and tghe planes were marginally maintained but at the time it was great as you are employed as a pilot.
"How long does it take before one is considered for a job as an airline pilot?"
The regionals/commuters generally require 1,000 hours of flight time with 100 of that being in multi-engine aircraft.
