i’ve worked as a sales agent for an employment agency, and when i got contracts and came back to the office, i wanted to talk to recruiters right away and see who was a great candidate to be able to send resumes asap to the employer.

if you dress one grade higher than expected for your type of work (a suit, when business casual is the norm for clerical work) you stand out to the recruiters. its the difference that sets you out from the masses of people who just walk through the door. also when you dress for the recruiter’s interview, dont forget that is still an interview. very few of our contracts would actually interview candidates after we had screened for their position. especially if we had a long relationship with that company, meaning your 1st impression does happen at the agency. if you dont stand out there, chances are good that you wont be passed along to the employer for consideration. another point to consider, is that dressing too casually at the agency, recruiters feel uncomfortable placing a candidate that may or may not know what is appropriate office wear. the worst thing in the world for the agency besides outright problems with the candidate are the candidate showing up not looking professional and complaints coming in or the employee being sent home, which might put the contract at risk. hope this info helps!

They prefer business casual; look neat and well groomed and dress the way you would for an actual job interview, which this is. You need to make a good impression.

I am with agencies now, all i wore to my interviews was casual clothes (Jeans, t-shirt and shoes). But i'm only a HGV driver and i think it depends on the catogory of work you will be doing and how you would dress for the job. If for instance if you are applying for clerical work in an office then it would be a different sort of dress code as to a driver like me or someone doing manual labour. I think it would be a wasted effort to wear a suit when all they are interested in are your skills. Good look for the interviews, but i'm sure you won't need it.

I'd wear smart office clothes (the same sort that you'd wear to work) to give the impression of you being professional. Someone else has said that all you do is sit and fill in forms, however, if you turn up scruffy to do this, what sort of impression is that?

They expect you to wear what you would wear to a job interview for a position in your chosen field. You never know when they will have had someone who literally just called and they think you’d be perfect for the position!

Never go into apply for any job without dressing as if you were going in for an interview. You never know when they will be looking to interview and hire someone immediately!

If you have to wear a uniform to your current job, leave early enough that you can change from your more dressed up clothes to your uniform before going to work.

dress neatly, you can wear a suit to the agency if you want to and just take off the jacket and leave it in the car before you go to your job.

a nice sweater and a pair of slacks should suffice though.
