There are a ton of employment agencies and headhunter agencies that operate on what’s called “contingency basis.” They don’t ever charge you anything, they make their money when you get a job. Essentially, they charge the company they place you with a fee. They will always help you with your resume, etc.
Depending on your background, you should look into that first. Manpower, Adecco, and others are good places to start. Tell them you don’t want temp work, but temp-to-perm or permanent placement.
